Every Skyrim player will know that soul gems are a must-have but just when you need one, you never seem to have one.

Luckily, one player has stumbled across a quick way to get them and it is definitely something we wish we had known when the game first came out over a decade ago.

Check out the official trailer for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim below!

Used for enchanting weapons and armour and found in a variety of different sizes, soul gems are a key item in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and an essential item if you wish to get into the Enchanting skill.

Found all over Bethesda’s expansive map, soul gems will be used just as soon as you find them so this neat trick courtesy of Reddit user PuzzleheadedStudy701 will make things a whole lot easier.

“Just found out you can mine soul gems”, they posted over on r/skyrim recently alongside a video of them using a pickaxe to mine a geode vein.

These veins are also found all over Skyrim but it seems as though not a lot of players knew that they would reward them with a multitude of soul gems.

“Pardon me!? Man, how am I still learning things about this game I’ve had for 10+ years,” user NikolaSolonik said.

PrestigiousWasabi778 agreed, saying, “This game always has something new to see or learn, even 13 years later. Crazy!”

Not only that but user comprobar also added another helpful tip.

“Did you know that you can just attack the ore vein with your pickaxe and it will mine faster? Because I just recently learned that.”

With almost a hundred comments, and the majority of them consisting of players being unaware of this trick, it seems as though we are still far away from learning all that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has to offer.

Maybe that was Bethesda’s plan all along to keep the wait until The Elder Scrolls VI that bit more bearable.
