The Simpsons & Run was an absolute marvel, basically being a Grand Theft Auto game for kids, and it’s begging to be remade.
The Simpsons game was even on track for a sequel, a few in fact given the success of the game, but someone at Activision reportedly said no meaning all the projects were shelved, a silly move if you ask me.
Check out some of the best Simpsons games ever made below!
Ever since the game has been fondly remembered but largely unplayable as it was never ported to modern consoles, fortunately I’ve got my OG PlayStation 2 copy for whenever I fancy heading back to Springfield.

While a re-release would be nice, what the game really deserves is a remake, and if it looks anything like the one in this Reddit thread we’d be eating well.
The remake you’ll see in the thread was made by a developer and gives the game a gorgeous makeover, without steering too far away from the game’s signature Simpsons artstyle.
There are other fan-made remakes like it out there in the world but this still looks like one of the best ones to me.
As cool as it is though the law says it can never be released to the public, which is fair but if Activision isn’t going to remake the game anyway it seems a real shame to leave The Simpsons Hit & Run stranded as a relic of the past.

One of the comments said as much, saying: “I’m really sad he can never release the game, but it was cool watching him make it. I don’t know anything about game development, but he made it pretty easy to understand.”
With how many remasters and remakes you see nowadays, especially for some pretty obscure games like The Thing, perhaps there’s hope The Simpsons Hit & Run will get another chance to shine one day, hell maybe through a sequel.
