Red Dead Redemption 2 will be receiving a next-gen patch and the original Red Dead Redemption is getting a remake, as per announcements that are allegedly on the way this year from Rockstar Games.
These rumours of a remake have been rumbling since Take-Two Interactive mentioned that it intended to release "new iterations of previously released titles" in an earnings report from the spring of 2021. Of course, that could have only referred to the Definitive Edition of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto Vice City and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Nevertheless, Rockstar Mag’s Chris Liberty claimed that these titles (though glitchy and scorned) have paved the way for the upcoming Red Dead Redemption remake.

Now, Twitter user @AccNgt has gotten fans in a flap with their assertion that there will be an announcement of a next-gen patch for console versions of Red Dead Redemption 2 as well as the reveal of the remake of the acclaimed 2010 game. This is the same leaker who uncovered the existence of Star Wars Eclipse, the upcoming narrative game set in the High Republic era from the developer of Heavy Rain and Detroit Become Human. With that in mind, we'll consider this crumb of insider information carefully and cautiously.
In my books, a next-gen patch for Red Dead Redemption 2 will simply need to be seen to be believed because the world still looks so good. Players have sunk thousands and thousands of hours into this stunning game and it's even used in university classes about the historical period. The possibility that its visuals could reach higher heights is inconceivable. On the other hand, a remake of the original game would have been welcomed with open arms from fans before the release of
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition. As aforementioned, Chris Liberty said that the game would emulate the same art style of the remasters, so let's hope that's the only thing it's copying, or else Rockstar Games will be inundated with aggravation and refund requests once more.
