A Resident Evil 4 fan shares a trick with the community that we all probably missed.

Whether it’s the original version that was released on the Nintendo GameCube in 2005, before receiving countless ports or the 2023 remake, Resident Evil 4 is considered to be one of the greatest games of all time.

From the typically cheesy one-liners, the high-octane action, horrific monsters and conspiracy cover-ups, there’s a lot to love about Resident Evil 4. Which, to be fair, could describe just about every game from the Capcom series. Well, apart from Umbrella Corps, that game needs to vanish forever!

In our review of the Resident Evil 4 remake, we described it as a “brilliant action-horror game”.

While I couldn't recommend this game enough, I would suggest starting with the remaster of the 2001 remake before moving on to the Resident Evil 2 (2019) and Resident Evil 3 (2020) remakes, to get a good feel for the series and its characters.

No matter which version of Resident Evil 4 you play, both have one of the most horrific and tormenting monsters in the entire series (and that’s saying something). The monster in question is called the Regenerator, and its more deadly spikey version, Iron Maiden.

I hate the Regenerator!

Even before you set your eyes on the Rengerator, you can hear its sniffy nose and frantic breathing approaching from around the corner. Then, standing well over 7ft tall, this creature is practically indestructible, and after a few wasted gunshots, the best course of action would be to run away, at least initially.

I am about to go into spoilers on how to kill the Regenerator and Iron Maiden, just in case you’ve not played Resident Evil 4 yet.

One of the ways that you can kill this creature is by acquiring a Biosensor Scope, which can be attached to either a rifle or a submachine gun. When looking through the scope, you can see parasites over its body. Shoot all the parasites, kill the Regenerator/Iron Maiden.

The rifle is my choice of weapon to kill this creature, but even with the Biosensor Scope attached, in a moment of panic, it can be easy to miss some shots, and this is where this handy trick comes into play.

“How noobies like me aim with a controller,” declared Reddit user massive_attack_22, sharing a clip of the handy trick in question.

Basically, by aiming down the scope towards one of the parasites and then quickly pausing and unpausing the game, it will help your shots be a little more accurate.

“I’ve seen speedrunners use this technique as well,” replied Productof2020.

“If you are on PS5, try gyro aim, it's really good,” suggested Thema03. “At first it will be weird to use, but give it an hour and you will be aiming like a pro.”

So, there you have it. If you’re panicking trying to shoot the parasites off the Rengenerator or Iron Maiden, hopefully, this trick should help.

The next game to arrive in the series is Resident Evil Requiem for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 on 27 February 2026.
