Red Dead Redemption fans are excited to hear they might finally be getting that new-gen version they’ve always dreamed about.

Last week, it was claimed that Rockstar Games is planning an exciting update for the critically-acclaimed Red Dead Redemption 2 that’d finally upgrade it for new-gen hardware, like the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

The game looks outstanding for an Xbox One/PlayStation 4 game too, so Lord knows how good it’ll look if it gets enhanced.

Aside from this, it was also claimed the game would be getting a port to the Nintendo Switch 2, which may sound far-fetched but remember Cyberpunk 2077 is also getting a re-release, so clearly the hardware can handle it.

At the time of writing, Rockstar Games hasn’t confirmed the port’s existence but with GTA VI being delayed to May 2026, it’d make sense for the studio to release it for an easy win.

It’s also said Rockstar Games is planning to re-release GTA IV as well, but this won’t be a remake or remaster, just a port.

Anyway fans are excited at the prospect of playing Red Dead Redemption 2 on the go when their shiny new Nintendo Switch 2 consoles arrive in June.

One fan reacted to the news saying, “That’s crazyyyyyyy,” while another added, “RDR2 on the Switch 2, that’s really going to be exciting. Are they also going to release GTA VI on the Switch 2!?”

Others were more excited by the new-gen upgrade, as if there’s any game that deserves one, it has to be Red Dead Redemption 2, right?

Again, this hasn’t been confirmed by Rockstar Games so take it with a pinch of salt, but as stated earlier, having to delay GTA VI to 2026 was a pretty big deal, so what better way to curry favour with its audience again by re-releasing some of its most beloved titles to fill the void?
