Red Dead Redemption 3 may not have been officially confirmed but that has not stopped fans from discussing which protagonist they would like to see next.

There is no denying that the potential protagonist for Red Dead Redemption 3 will have some big cowboy boots to fill considering that both John Marston and Arthur Morgan are so beloved.

However, with many fans agreeing that a potential sequel should give somebody else a chance to tell their story, the problem lies with who it should be.

That being said, with Rockstar being hard at work on putting the finishing touches on Grand Theft Auto VI, Red Dead Redemption 2 and a potential sequel has taken a back seat and fans have yet to hear any information regarding its future.

Nonetheless, that hasn’t stopped discussions and one that took place over on r/reddeadredemption2 has some interesting takes on our next protagonist.

User IProbablyProblematic shared their thoughts.

“I've always thought the third game would conclude the reverse trilogy and show the founding of the gang, how Arthur and John joined and eventually ended with the Blackwater massacre.”

However, user ShaunnieDarko believes RDR3 could go in many different directions.

“There’s a lot they could do,” they shared.

“Focus on some of the older characters like Landon Ricketts and Black Belle, or follow Jack into the future as the West truly dies.

Or it could focus on the misadventures of young Uncle before he was cursed with lumbago.

I see young Dutch mentioned as an option, or Arthur’s dad or the Jack Hall gang.

They’ve got stories they could tell, will it be as good as RDR2? I hope I live to see it.”

It remains to be seen if Rockstar will announce Red Dead Redemption 3, and if so, when we can expect to see it released.

For now, let us be glad that we at least have GTA VI arriving later this year after a long, long wait.
