Red Dead Redemption 3 Protagonist Sparks Conflict Amongst Players

The debate continues.
Who shall be the next protagonist in the Red Dead Redemption saga?
That is the question that recently sparked a debate over on r/RDR2 as, despite Red Dead Redemption 3 not having even been announced yet, fans are still eager to learn which character will lead the charge in the next instalment.
There is no denying that both John Marston and Arthur Morgan are tough acts to follow so it is no surprise that fans are worried that the next protagonist will just not be able to live up to our favourite outlaws.

As a result, discussions often take place over who the lucky person should be.
That is what happened earlier this week as user Mirvelaas shared their own thoughts on Red Dead Redemption 3’s main character.
“If a Red Dead Redemption 3 really comes out, who do you think will be the main character and what will the story of 3 be?” They asked.
“Personally I would really like a story about Landon Ricketts but that would mean that we don't continue the story of the previous games. So I thought of Jack Marston and the end of the Wild West.”
Both Landon Ricketts and Jack Marston have had their names put forward many times before with Landon being a beloved character from Red Dead Redemption and Jack following his father, John Marston’s footsteps.
However, fellow fans were quick to share their own thoughts.
“TBH, I hope they make something that has nothing to do with the original gang, because their story has passed,” one fan suggested.
“Probably some new characters, maybe playing as a corrupt lawman. Or maybe becoming the leader of a gang.”
User PixelPrivateer agreed, adding, "I'd prefer to play as a new character. Maybe associated with Dutch but never really joining the gang, or a friend of John's who doesn't make it.
I wouldn't want it to be right before Blackwater though, I'd want it to be as far back as before Jack was born.”
The user hopes that if we do see the gang again, it will be way before the events of Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2 and show us more of why they finally settled on escaping to Tahiti.
With answers ranging from a new character, Jack Marston, Black Belle and even Gavin, it seems as though we have not come to an agreement of who should take over at the helm of the Red Dead Redemption saga.
All we can hope is that they will live up to the iconic John and Arthur when the time finally comes.
