The Night Folk are easily one of the most unsettling inclusions in Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2.

Lurking in the shadows of Bayou Nwa and Bluewater Marsh, these voodoo killers aren’t exactly friendly and you’d be forgiven for running as far away as humanly possible which is perhaps my way of justifying my own actions.

The bravest amongst us though have played the Night Folk at their own game, stalking these elusive beings to see what true secrets they’re hiding.

If you see one of the Night Folk, chances are they’ll soon have your pillaged body slung over one of their shoulders.

You may stumble across them with bodies already in tow.

For that reason, I can’t recommend loitering around either of the aforementioned locations at sunset but Reddit user SmilingFlounder decided to defy all logic, making an interesting discovery in the process.

Take a look at some of our favourite Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below.

“I remember someone here posting about an encounter with [the] Night Folk where they dump a body in the swamp and how they wished they had followed them instead of killing them,” the user began.

“I'm happy to report that I happened to find this encounter right as I logged on, and weirdness definitely ensued. I stalked them for a while and was surprised to find that they wouldn't attack passers by nor would passers by attack them. I was even more surprised when I realised where they were going.”

They continued, “I followed them all the way from Lakay down through the streets of Saint Dennis. They interacted with no one and no one interacted with them. They got as far as the domino players when the one with the torch saw me and attacked on sight.”

“Not really sure where they were going except maybe the cemetery? Either way, it was fun stalking creepy voo doods for a while.”

The sad truth about this is that it sounds like the Night Folk will just walk away from you until they’re able to despawn which is a shame because it would’ve been a cool touch to stumble across some kind of base camp.

I suppose the Night Folk just inhabit the various shacks found throughout the swamp and bayou areas.

Even still, this has done nothing to make me feel any more settled about these creepy fellas. In fact, their ever-present gunning for us, the player, may have made me feel worse.
