Fans of Red Dead Redemption 2 are waiting for a next-gen remaster or even a fancy update but as of yet, they’ve all been left waiting but are those fortunes about to change?

Red Dead Redemption 2 was released in 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, then the following year on PC. The latest Rockstar Games title was a smash, garnering an impressive score of 97 on the aggregate website Metacritic, earning the “Must-Play” accolade.

Even when played on last-gen systems, Red Dead Redemption 2 looks stunning with its incredible vistas, dynamic weather effects, and ecosystem brimming with life, and of course, it’s a blast to play. However, when the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S were released in 2020, many fans hoped that we’d soon be treated to that next-gen remaster or update.

Other than looking extra lush, one of the main reasons why fans want to see a next-gen remaster or update is because even when being played on new-gen systems, Red Dead Redemption 2 is still locked at 30fps.

With many fans continuing to lose hope that Rockstar Games will deliver the goods anytime soon, a Red Dead Redemption 2 video has been making the social media rounds claiming to be a trailer for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

It’s hard to see the quality in his off-cam footage and gives us every reason to be very sceptical. The trailer is well put together but it does not mention resolution or framerate enhancements, which seems like a big oversight if this was an official Rockstar Games trailer.

For example, the GTA V trailer for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S used the words “expanded and enhanced” and I would have thought that this “leaked” Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer would have had something similar. All it says at the end of the trailer is “coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S March 2025.”

The trailer could very well be genuine but until Rockstar Games makes an official announcement, we should take it with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.
