Red Dead Online player with 6,000 hours logged on Stadia sent gift from Rockstar

ItsColourTV put around 6,000 hours into the Stadia version of Red Dead Online before its shutdown - Rockstar thanked him for his dedication.

The time has almost come. It’s officially the final day of Google Stadia - the cloud gaming service will be inaccessible from 8am tomorrow (UK time), although I’m not sure that I’d call it the end of an era.

Stadia never really took off - it definitely had its fans, but it didn’t really change gaming as we know it. However, when it was announced that the service is shutting down, a number of dedicated gamers were very concerned about what would happen to their save data, as plans for rescuing it varied from game to game.

Take a look at some of the funniest wins and fails from Red Dead Redemption 2 below.

You might remember the name ItsColourTV - the person with 6,000 hours in the Stadia version of Red Dead Online. Following Stadia’s shutdown, he pleaded for Rockstar Games to give players the option to transfer their character to another platform so that their data wouldn't be lost. Thankfully, the devs eventually confirmed that this would be implemented, and so his legendary file was saved (although controversially, the transfer was only available to people who played the game in the 30 days prior to Stadia announcing its shutdown).

Now, as GamesRadar+ reports, ItsColourTV has been sent a huge box of Red Dead goodies from Rockstar Games in appreciation of how much time he's put into the game. The gifts included a tote bag, mug, candle, shirts and even Arthur Morgan’s jacket. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that all of these things went down very well with ItsColourTV, who streamed the entire unboxing on YouTube.

Sadly for Red Dead Online players, Rockstar has already stated that it has no plans to add any more major content updates to the game, so things aren’t really going to be changing a huge amount from now on. Hopefully, that’ll mean that more focus can be put on getting GTA VI here faster before everyone combusts from the hype.
