Pokémon Unbound is a huge free RPG you shouldn't miss, fans enthuse

You are guaranteed to cause a mass debate if you ask a Pokémon fan what their favourite entry is. However, this RPG is guaranteed to be added to that list and better yet, it’s completely free.

Pokémon Unbound may be a ROM hack but that does not mean it doesn’t stand up to the regular titles in the franchise.

So much so, that it is widely regarded as the best mod for Pokémon and not just because it’s totally free.

The topic came about during a discussion over on r/PokemonROMhacks where one person asked, “What’s the best Pokémon Rom Hack?”

The post soon welcomed over 400 comments but one answer stood out time and time again: Pokémon Unbound.

As a result, the original poster wrote: “Looking at the comments I should try Unbound first.”

Now a few months on and a new discussion based around Pokémon Unbound has surfaced and it is safe to say that it has quite the dedicated fanbase.

“Pokémon Unbound is crazy good.. it's so refreshing!” One player wrote.

The poster goes on to discuss that they have been feeling a bit tired with the older entries in the Pokémons series and picked up Unbound without expecting too much.

However, they were pleasantly surprised with the ROM hack.

“I'm genuinely impressed. There are so many features and improvements that make the game more enjoyable and user-friendly, like easy fleeing from battles, infinite bag space, and a quest system,” they wrote.

“I originally planned to play for just 5 to 10 minutes to check it out, but I ended up playing for a whole hour and had to stop myself or I would play all day.”

Pokémon Unbound is completely free to download and acts as its very own RPG in the long-running franchise.

So if you want more of the creature-catching title without revisiting old entries, this is definitely the one for you.
