Pokémon Emerald has received a fan remake that’s about 10x better than the original, which is saying a lot considering it was already one of the best Pokémon games.
My all-time favourite Pokémon game will always be Pokémon Platinum but if it suddenly vanished one day, Pokémon Emerald would take its place, with a greater starter roster as well as some awesome legendary Pokémon.
Check out the trailer for the next Pokémon game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A below.
While The Pokémon Company is yet to produce a remake from Gen III fans have been more than happy to do it in its place, despite the usual repercussions that follow like takedowns.

Pokémon Gamma Emerald is one such attempt at remaking the game, and it does an excellent job.
Created by UndreamedPanic on X, the remake retains the 2D art style and gorgeous sprites but adds depth to what was already there, with new lighting, shadows and other additions that you’d usually expect from an HD-2D title.
A free demo will soon be made available on ITCH and Gamejolt on 15 May later this month.
It’s unknown how far into the game the demo will take players and if the save file will transfer to the full game, but it’s exciting nonetheless.

Enjoy it while it lasts though as I can’t imagine it lasting long when Nintendo and The Pokémon Company get so trigger happy over fan projects.
It’d be more understandable if actual Pokémon remakes were being released instead, but they’re so rare despite how well they’d probably sell.
That said, the remakes of Pokémon Diamond & Pearl did not go down well with fans, including myself, for how little they actually changed the game and the bizarre artstyle it went with.
So before it gets taken away, be sure to give Pokémon Gamma Emerald a try when the demo goes live on 15 May.
