If you’re a PlayStation owner, it might just be your favourite time of the month. That’s right, it’s PlayStation Plus catalogue update time, rejoice. I don't know about you but my backlog really can’t take anymore but hey, I guess I’m going to add more to it anyway.

Later this month, PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers will get access to eight Yakuza games but until then, entertain yourself by downloading this month’s three free Extra tier titles which are exclusively available to download now, until 6 September.

Speaking of PlayStation Plus, have you downloaded Stray yet? Check out real life cats reacting to the game below. It's adorable.

Just in case you missed it, let me recap what’s included because August’s line-up is very nice indeed. First up, you’ll get access to Vicarious Visions’ Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 (PS4/PS5) which was released back in 2020. In our review, we rated the game a very high 9/10. GAMINGbible’s Mark wrote that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 “is about as good a remaster as we’ve ever had.” High praise.

If skateboarding isn’t your thing, perhaps I can interest you with Rya Ga Gotoku Studio’s Yakuza: Like A Dragon (PS4/PS5), which was also released in 2020. In our review, James praised the balancing of “universal appeal” with “retro callbacks.” Seeing as the Yakuza series is set to join the Extra tier later this month, this game certainly could tempt Essential subscribers into upgrading.

Lastly, you can now download celebrated indie Little Nightmares (PS4). Created by Tarsier Studios, this puzzle-platformer may look approachable enough, but it’ll soon bring all your childhood fears bubbling to the surface. It was absolutely one of 2017’s must-play titles, and is definitely not one to miss. So turn on those consoles folks and get downloading. You’ve got until 6 September. The clock’s ticking.
