The PlayStation Plus Essential free games for July 2022 have been officially confirmed, and it looks like a genuinely good month for subscribers.
While the all-new PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra tiers launched earlier this month with a selection of games from across all eras of PlayStation, PS Plus Essential is pretty much the service as it was before, with a handful of new free games for subscribers to download and play each month.
I'm sure you won't be surprised to learn that the leak earlier this month was indeed correct: the PlayStation Plus July 2022 games are Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, Arcadegeddon, and The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man Of Medan. Not a bad lineup at all!
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is probably my personal favourite of the bunch - a delightful all-new Crash Bandicoot adventure from developer Toys For Bob that keeps the feel of the original PlayStation games while folding in a ton of great new ideas and powerups. If you've yet to play it, I can't recommend it enough.

Man Of Medan is also worth a look for any horror fans. A spooky adventure set aboard a haunted ship from the developers of Until Dawn, every decision has a consequence. Getting all of the characters off the ship alive and solving the central mystery is tense work.
Alas, I've yet to play Arcadegeddon, but it looks like good fun if you're in the market for a colourful new multiplayer adventure. All three games will be available for PS Plus Essential subscribers to download from July 5.
