You can claim an original PlayStation classic for free, but only for a limited time, so you need to act fast before missing out.

We often love a good freebie, especially when said freebie is a beloved classic of yesteryear and one that is highly thought out. Oh, and if you love point-and-click adventures, then this free game could be your cup of tea.

Every month, the Epic Games Store gives away tons of free video games and DLC. Some of those titles are absolute bangers, which is why it can be so baffling that so many of these freebies will go by unnoticed. However, we’re here to make sure that you don't miss out on this particular beloved classic.

What Game Can We Claim for Free Today?

The free game in question is the classic point-and-click adventure, Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars, which was originally released in 1996 on PC and PlayStation, before being ported to other platforms.

For its time, the visuals were crisp and gorgeous, and looked like something straight out of a Disney production. There is also something unique about point-and-click games that makes you feel part of their worlds, more than some other genres.

“Step out onto the streets of Paris in Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars, reads the synopsis of the game. “Enjoy a globe-spanning story when intrepid tourist George Stobbart and fearless journalist Nico Collard are pitched into a gripping adventure, exploring exotic locations, solving ancient mysteries, and thwarting dark conspiracies to discover the arcane secrets of the Knights Templar.”]

What Version of Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars Is This?

This version of Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars, the “Reforged” remaster that was released in 2024, is for mobile. It has enhanced 4K visuals and remastered audio.

On the aggregate website Metacritic, Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars: Reforged scored a very respectable 84 from critics, and 8.8 from users.

Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforged is free on Android and iOS devices. Typically, this mobile port would cost £7.99, but right now, it won't cost you a penny, as long as you claim the game during its free promotion.

How Long Will It Be Free?

Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforged will only be free via the Epic Games Store until 23 April 2026. After that, it will return to its RRP.

You may also be pleased to know that Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforged is also available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
