Some of those titles are absolute bangers, which is why it can be so baffling that so many of these freebies will go by unnoticed. The free game in question is the classic point-and-click adventure, Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars, which was originally released in 1996 on PC and PlayStation, before being ported to other platforms.

For its time, the visuals were crisp and gorgeous, and looked like something straight out of a Disney production. There is also something unique about point-and-click games that makes you feel part of their worlds, more than some other genres.

This version of Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars, the “Reforged” remaster that was released in 2024, is for mobile. It has enhanced 4K visuals and remastered audio.

On the aggregate website Metacritic, Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars: Reforged scored a very respectable 84 from critics, and 8.8 from users.

Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforged is free on Android and iOS devices. Typically, this mobile port would cost £7.99, but right now, it won't cost you a penny, as long as you claim the game during its free promotion.

How Long Will It Be Free?

Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforged will only be free via the Epic Games Store until 23 April 2026. After that, it will return to its RRP.
