Who wants to play one of the biggest entries in the Call of Duty series? If that’s you, then you’re in luck!

Released in 2022, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is the sequel to the 2019 reboot. Powered by Activision’s in-house IW Engine, Modern Warfare II offered stunning visuals to almost real-life perfection. However, one section of its campaign which took place in Amsterdam was so realistic that a real hotel located in the city considered legal action against Activision.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II might not be the most critically acclaimed game in the series, but it’s still amongst the best in my opinion. It had an intense, gritty, yet typically over-the-top single player campaign as well as a robust multiplayer. If you were tempted to try Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II for yourself but were unable or unwilling to part with the cash, you can now play the game for free this weekend.

As reported by ComicBook (via CallofDuty.com), the free weekend does not include the single player campaign, Spec Ops mode or all of the multiplayer modes, but you will be able to sample the vast majority of multiplayer modes at no cost. In celebration of the launch of Season 04 on 14 June, Call of Duty ‘Multiplayer Free Access’ will be available from Thursday 22 June to Monday 26 June 2023.

The following maps and modes are available during the free weekend:

  1. 6v6 Core Maps: Al Bagra Fortress, Breenbergh Hotel, Dome, Embassy, Farm 18, Kunstenaar District, Mercado Las Almas, Shipment, Shoothouse, and Showdown.
  2. Battle Maps: Ahkdar Village, Guijarro, and Mawizeh Marsh.
  3. Core Modes: Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Domination, Kill Confirmed, Grind, and Search & Destroy.
  4. Hardcore and Third Person Modes: Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Grind.
  5. Party Modes: Gun Game, All or Nothing, One in the Chamber, and Infected.

Should you decide to purchase Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II once the free weekend concludes, all your stats, progress and unlocked items will carry over. What’s more, you will also be able to get a discount on the game.

On PC from 21 June to 5 July 2023, you can get a 45% discount off MWII Standard Edition or 30% off the Vault Edition through Steam. You can also claim the same discount via Battle.net.

As for console players, on PlayStation from 21 June to 5 July 2023, you can get a 30% discount on the Vault Edition. From 20 June to 28 June 2023, Xbox players will get a 45% discount off the Cross-Gen Bundle.

In related news, alleged leaked images may indicate that the Call of Duty game for 2023 is on the verge of being announced. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is available now for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
