With this generation of consoles trudging on, the big publishers are starting to look at what’s next for gamers, with designs already being mocked up by the folks at companies like Microsoft.

Of course, the next Xbox is shrouded in mystery, however, leaks occur, and some details spilled out that might point to what’s next for the brand.

Everything is an Xbox. Maybe you're an Xbox.

A while back, industry insider, Jez Corden, made some comments about plans for the next Xbox, saying, “I doubt we'll see a reveal of their hardware strategy any time soon, but what is perhaps more interesting to me is how Xbox will seek to entice developers to support its efforts on PC.”

Grabbing those PC players could be a major goal for the next console, and this is bolstered by comments Phil Spencer made giving players the idea that PC storefronts could be available through the console.

This has fans confused, and a bit baffled.

Over on Reddit, discussion picked up, with many wondering if the next Xbox would act more like a PC under your TV.

“For me, that actually sounds like quite an enticing package, and I’ve never owned an Xbox in my life,” said dynesor.

“I don't really see why they would allow third party stores on Xbox from a business perspective,” comments Professionally_Lazy.

Many are wondering if such a move is on the cards, given that Xbox has Xbox Game Pass to already entice many to the console.

Fans are asking why Xbox needs to attract PC players, though one commenter has an idea, saying, “PC Game Pass is not large enough to make any real money for Microsoft. Especially when it costs just 12 bucks, which is cheaper than the console tier and ultimate tier, while still offering day one titles. Which of course bleeds money.”

We’ll have to wait to see what Microsoft does next, but already fans are seeing mixed messages.
