A new indie horror game is proving to be a hit with fans of the genre, and it’s pretty much the cost of a standard Starbucks coffee.

As a huge fan of the horror genre, whether it’s video games, movies or TV series, it’s probably never been a better time to be a fan of all things spooky and gory.

Not only are high-profile AAA horror franchises more popular than they’ve ever been, such as Capcom’s Resident Evil and Konami’s Silent Hill, but the ever-ready indie scene has also been knocking it out of the park.

This year alone, from big publishers, we’ve had Silent Hill f and Cronos: The New Dawn, not to mention Resident Evil Requiem arriving in February next year. As for indie delights, Tormented Souls 2 and Karma: The Dark World are worth checking out, amongst the many other fantastic games on offer.

The horror genre continues to thrive

The ever-rising popularity of the horror genre has even seen award ceremonies such as the Horror Game Awards go from an online-only event to its first in-person celebration taking place next month in London, England. By the way, you can register your interest in claiming a free ticket.

However, perhaps some of the best horror moments have appeared like an RKO out of nowhere, and one such game has been brought to our attention by Pure Xbox.

The game in question is called Dollmare, created by a team of talented developers under the publisher, Almost Done Games. It kind of looks like a cross between Five Nights at Freddy’s and Papers Please.

“You were desperate for money to pay the rent, so you've accepted a job offer at a doll factory. What seemed like a way to make an easy buck turned out to be something much more sinister,” reads the synopsis of the game.

The gameplay trailer certainly has a chilling vibe and looks to have the potential of being a fun horror game. At the time of writing, it has a “Very Positive” user review rating on Steam.

Depending on your platform of choice, Dollmare costs between £3.99 to £4.49, which looks like an absolute bargain to me. Granted, according to HowLongToBeat.com, Dollmare can only take about two to three and a half hours to complete, but that’s still not shabby for its price.

Dollmare is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. As for the aforementioned Resident Evil Requiem, that arrives on 27 February 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.
