Xbox has revealed a brand-new controller, adding a new colour and style to the hardware line-up.

The latest controller from Microsoft is the Pulse Cipher Special Edition, which is showcased in a vibrant red with translucent plastic to evoke the retro style of the 2000s.

Everything is now an Xbox. Just so you know.

As another part of the ‘Cipher’ line, this red is certainly eye-catching.

Unveiled on Xbox Wire, the controller is said to provide a “nostalgic transparent look infused with a futuristic twist.”

It makes me wonder why we ever stopped doing these translucent editions of technology - it’s bloody cool to see the inner workings of something on display.

Xbox states that with the Cipher Red, “Players can catch a glimpse of the silver midframe through the red transparent top case to reveal the mysteries found within.”

If you’re in the market for a new controller, or you just like to collect swish looking accessories, then you can preorder the latest addition from today.

The sales spiel from Xbox continues, “This vibrant design and colorway make a bold statement where modern gaming meets enduring nostalgia.”

Inside, the controller is what you’d expect; there’s the standard d-pad and headphone jack you’d find in the standard controller.

The triggers have a metallic finish which is a lovely touch and the accent continues on the d-pad.

This controller joins a whole host of others from the publisher, including the Elite, though there’s no mention if this style will be adapted for the Elite controller.

It’s time to rummage around in the guts of the sofa for some extra pennies to put towards this one, so you can revel in the nostalgia of its design.

Now, can we bring this style back permanently? I want all my tech to be translucent, like some weird 1990s sci-fi show that went overboard.
