With Microsoft coming under fire in recent months for its major price increases, it seems as though it has plans to pull back users by adding this exciting day-one release to its Game Pass.

Being an Xbox Game Pass subscriber is no easy task in 2025 with its prices recently increasing by 50%.

With many users cancelling their subscriptions, it seems as though Microsoft is doing what it takes to enact some damage control, even if that means adding a brand-new Marvel game to its Xbox Game Pass library.

That is what it will be doing in December with the arrival of Marvel Cosmic Invasion.

Set to launch on 1 December, Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a beat ‘em up title set to launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Featuring an arcade-style side-scrolling beat ‘em up format, Marvel Cosmic Invasion will see players lock in some of their favourite superheroes and see them battle it out in a series of rounds.

Not only that but with a cosmic invasion set to arrive, our superheroes must defeat the villain Annihilus in various locations ranging from New York City to the Negative Zone.

With 15 Marvel heroes to choose from, this retro-style fighting game complete with local and online multiplayer is guaranteed to offer hours of fun.

If you are still not convinced, you can read more about it below:

“Tribute Games and Dotemu are teaming up again, in collaboration with Marvel Games, to craft an original, fresh beat 'em up.

Featuring dynamic combat combos and dazzling pixel art, this planet-hopping adventure stands as a love letter to the Marvel Universe.

Nova, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Phyla-Vell, Captain America and many more heroes, both earth-born and cosmic, will join forces in a star-spanning brawling adventure against the deadly Annihilation Wave.

From New York City to the depths of the Negative Zone, the future of the Universe will be fought for across the stars in MARVEL Cosmic Invasion!”

Now ahead of its launch in just two weeks, Microsoft has revealed that Marvel Cosmic Invasion will be added to the Xbox Game Pass library as a day-one release.

It will be available on console, PC, and Cloud and will be optimised for handhelds courtesy of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass tiers.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion launches on 1 December and if you are an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, you can grab it for absolutely free.
