With the Xbox Game Pass receiving a lot of criticism over recent months, it seems as though Microsoft is aiming to earn back some brownie points with this AAA freebie.
The past few months has seen Microsoft repel Xbox users by announcing major price increases for its Xbox Game Pass subscription service.
Additionally, with many AAA no longer being added to the service as a day-one release, millions of users have taken to social media to share the news that they would be cancelling their long-running memberships.
With Microsoft’s popularity lower than ever, it seems as though it is pulling out all of the stops to bring back some of its playerbase.

Even if that means adding freebies that do not even require an Xbox Game Pass subscription.

That is the case throughout the first half of November as Grand Theft Auto Online is now free to play on the Xbox Series X/S, as well as the PlayStation 5, until 17 November.
Announced on the official Rockstar Games Twitter account, the deal will allow players to dive into the chaos and action of Grand Theft Auto Online for the next few days at no cost and with no catch.
“Experience the dynamic and ever-evolving online universe where you can rise from street-level hustler to kingpin of your own criminal empire. No PS Plus or Game Pass Essential required,” the official post reads.
Gain access to all content
Grand Theft Auto Online gives players access to “a dynamic and ever-growing online universe” where up to 30 players can come together in one lobby to chaos a whole lot of chaos.
Not only that but this deal includes access to all existing gameplay upgrades and content released since launch.
Whether you want to dive in solo or embark on your journey with friends, Grand Theft Auto Online is now free to enjoy and, with it being considered one of the best multiplayer experiences of all time, you do not want to miss out.
However, with Rockstar Games having just announced a further delay for Grand Theft Auto VI and now making a game that has been around for over a decade free, it seems as though the studio joins Microsoft in the firing line recently.
So is this free AAA release even really worth it?
It remains to be seen but hey, at least the option is there and you can take advantage of it now up until 17 November.
