Xbox releasing 8 more games you can download free this October

8 more reasons to boot up the Xbox

October is a busy month for Xbox with the platform getting eight games that you can download and play for free right now.

Among these eight games, all available via Xbox Game Pass is the brand-new Call of Duty release that many have been waiting to play all year.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is bringing back Zombies ready for spooky season

You can’t ignore the headline game for Xbox Game Pass this month as it’s a juggernaut of the industry.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is coming to the subscription service on day one and it’s not alone.

Backing it up are the ever-successful Call of Duty Warzone and last year’s iteration in the franchise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.

It’s certainly a big month for shooter fans, but Xbox has some other gems up their sleeves for those who want something a little different.

Donut County is a bonkers little indie game with bags of heart and a good deal of surreal humour thrown in.

If that’s not your bag, the semi-soulslike Ashen can be played in co-op with a friend if you want to clash swords with monstrous beasties.

Of course, it wouldn’t be spooky season without some zombies, so you’ve got Dead Island 2 available if you want some chaotic undead action.

Over on PC, if you use your Ultimate Game Pass subscription you can play two absolute belters in the RTS genre, Starcraft Remastered and Starcraft II, both of which will test you skills.

Lastly, two games with nothing in common; you’ve got Mech Warrior 5: Clans, which is an action game with giant mech suits that hold nothing back; then you get a trip to school with foul-mouthed kids in South Park: The Fractured But Whole.

There’s plenty to play over on Xbox and if you’re diving into Call of Duty, so many hours of having your mother’s name dragged through the dirt. Enjoy!
