Time isn’t on your side when it comes to these free Steam downloads; you’ll need to act quickly if you’re to reap the benefits of this enormous event.

Steam is rather generous with its free downloads, be that in the form of stickers and avatars or via its various free games and demos.

This event is a celebration of that eclectic mix, delivering tons of freebies.

Maybe a different kind of Steam experience is more your thing? If so, check out the trailer for The Casting of Frank Stone

The ‘Steam Space Exploration Fest’ has begun and runs until 9 September – that's tomorrow, people.

If you’ve yet to experience space travel, and are eager to without having to train at NASA or before the fest ends, you need to act now.

Not only are there various discounted titles up for grabs, there’s also dozens of free to play experiences open to users, in addition to many demos.

One free to play game currently available is Warframe, in which you play as an “unstoppable warrior”.

This narrative-driven title has a “very positive” ranking on Valve’s platform, with many describing it as “absolutely amazing” and “the peak” of free play opportunities.

Demos wise, you can enjoy The Planet Crafter, a title which has an “overwhelmingly positive” score.

Better still, if you decide you want to unlock the full game it’s discounted by 30 percent, meaning you only pay £13.99 instead of £19.99.

Provided you make said purchase during the fest, that is.

There's also a handful of featured items you can claim, ideal for showcasing your love of space.

An animated avatar, frame, and sticker are all free of charge via The Points Shop.

Like we said, it’s a modest selection, but one that’s sure to put a smile on your face whenever you think back on your days as a digital astronaut.

You have approximately 24 hours left to grab these freebies before they’re gone – don't be the lonely astronaut who missed out on a smorgasbord of free downloads.
