Take a look at the latest free games on offer at Steam

Looking for something new to dive into? I'd say you're an incredibly brave gamer, given that we stand on the precipice of one of the busiest seasons the video game industry has ever seen in terms of releases.

Over the next couple of months we have: Baldur's Gate 3, Starfield, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Lords Of The Fallen, Super Mario Wonder, Sea Of Stars, Assassin's Creed Mirage, and so many more.

But, if you're really looking to kill some time before we're hit by a deluge of releases, you can whet your whistle with any number of free downloads available on Steam right now.

Take a look at Starfield in all its glorious glory below!

As I'm sure you're probably aware, there are hundreds upon hundreds of free demos on Steam. These cheeky little appetisers are designed to get you in the mood, and are perfect for those of you who just can't decide what to play next. Try on a couple of games with no commitment, and see if you're left wanting to play more.

At the time of writing, there are 11 especially popular demos on Steam right now, so I figured I'd bring them to your attention. That's what friends are for, after all.

Without further ado, you can currently enjoy demos for the following:

  • Greedland - a military shooter where you take on the role of an interstellar mercenary.
  • Wildmender - a gorgeous-looking desert survival game.
  • Backpack Battles - A game that turns inventory management into a competitive sport.
  • Idling Gears - An incredibly therapeutic idle clicker. Brain off. Numbers go up. Very good.
  • Deltarune - The first two chapters in the follow-up to Undertale. May or may not actually be a follow-up. Nobody can be sure yet.
  • The Last Flame - A roguelike auto-battler which focuses on build creation, strategy and decision making.
  • Thronefall - A twist on the strategy genre.
  • Norland - A medieval kingdom sim inspired by Rimworld and Crusader Kings.
  • Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Do I really need to explain this one?
  • Let's School - An adorable 'low poly' simulation game that puts you in the role of headmaster.
  • Final Fantasy XIV - An extended free trial for one of the biggest, best MMORPGs out there.
