Halo and Bloodborne fans need to check out this wild upcoming shooter that arrives in 2026.
When I woke up this morning, I didn't think I’d be writing about a new shooter that can be compared to FromSoftware’s Bloodborne and Halo Studios’ beloved sci-fi series starring the one and only Master Chief, but here we are.
Both Bloodborne and Halo are very different properties. For example, one is a gothic action-RPG inspired by the likes of Dark Souls, and the other is a sci-fi shooter, set in outer space. Regardless, both are fantastic propositions in their own right.

So, if a game was brought to my attention that could be compared to Bloodborne and Halo, it will most certainly pique my interest. One such game is developed by Matter Team called Active Matter.
“You’re an operative stuck in a time loop, always brought back from the dead to the same point. Choose your loadout and enter quantum unstable zones rich with active matter – the most valuable and the most dangerous resource in all the multiverse,” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam.
“Fight against rivals from other timelines, survive physics-breaking anomalies and try to stay alive. Harvest active matter, gather loot and extract to a safe place before the whole zone ceases to exist with everything inside it.”
After watching its gameplay trailer, I must say that Active Matter also gives me vibes of Crysis and Titanfall, with its high-octane action, agility mechanics and alien enemies.

Gamers commenting on Active Matter’s debut gameplay trailer were also impressed.
“War Thunder, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Escape from Tarkov and Battlefield? I'm really hyped to play this, revealed tomthepivotdude01.
“This is amazing! I'm a fan!” declared TheodorFemger.

“Interesting, I haven't seen a zero-G type mechanic like that since Shattered Horizon, but that one was set in space,” replied Psycold.
Active Matter does not have a release date at the time of writing, but it is currently scheduled to be released sometime in 2026 on PC.
