The final countdown to Grand Theft Auto VI is on, somewhat anyway. The game is set to release sometime next year so whilst we don’t yet have a precise release date, we do know that the end is in sight.

Given that Rockstar Games has only dropped one trailer and is unlikely to drop another for quite some time - it’s not going to want the hype to peak too early - you may be left with cravings for something of a similar ilk to GTA VI. Well, if that’s the case, I encourage you to turn your attention to Mumbai Gullies. Developed by GameEon Studios, this upcoming action-adventure release seemingly captures the essence of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, transporting it to a brand new locale: Mumbai, India.

ICYMI: Take a look at the trailer for GTA VI below.

“Mumbai Gullies is inspired by the amazing contrast of life in Mumbai city. A city where the landscape changes every few metres. At one glance you could see towering skyscrapers and on the other, you see miles-long slums. This is a city where life is more than what meets the eye,” the synopsis reads. Played from a third-person perspective, the game will allow players to drive, walk, and ride the train across this bustling city.

Boasting a “suspense packed storyline” and a “ton of side activities”, it sounds as if Mumbai Gullies will feature plenty to keep us busy. While we don’t know our protagonist’s name, we do know that they’re someone who’s willing to sacrifice whatever it takes to reach the top - a familiar theme to fans of GTA.

While there’s no release date at the time of writing, it’s yet another exciting project to keep an eye on amidst the ongoing wait for Grand Theft Auto VI. Mumbai Gullies looks as if it’ll be an exciting new addition to the action-adventure genre. One to watch for 2024 on Steam.
