This upcoming PC game that beautifully blends Paper Mario and LittleBigPlanet could be one of the surprise hits of 2026, and you can play it for free right now.
Sometimes it’s easy to get won over by a charming trailer; after all, a trailer exists to gain our attention. Yet, sometimes, no matter how great that trailer is, the final product might not be a true reflection, leaving us with a feeling of disappointment.
However, hopefully that won't be the case with this promising indie game on Steam that looks like a fantastic blend of Nintendo’s Paper Mario and PlayStation’s LittleBigPlanet, developed by Space Sauce Studio.
The upcoming PC game in question is Origament: A Paper Adventure, and to say that this game oozes charm would be an understatement. Plus, it stars a cute cat, so there is that.
“Origament is your escape after a long day - a lighthearted, joyful adventure where gameplay can be relaxing yet sometimes test your skills,” reads the synopsis on Steam. “With light puzzles, chill quests, stunning views, and a mysterious story, it’s less about the challenge and more about enjoying the journey.”

The gameplay trailer for Origament: A Paper Adventure looks very impressive, not only with its gorgeous Paper Mario-inspired visuals, but also with its platforming gameplay that takes place over all sorts of lush locations. Its soundtrack is cosy, and even the narrator gives vibes of LittleBigPlanet’s Stephen Fry.
Origament: A Paper Adventure is out in just over a week, but you can get an early taste of the game right now, to see if it plays as well as it looks. The demo download link can be found on its dedicated Steam page just below the trailer and screenshots.

Origament: A Paper Adventure will be released next week on Tuesday, 7 April 2026. That’s assuming, of course, it doesn't get delayed, but that should be unlikely this close to launch. Still, it might be a good idea to wishlist it on Steam to receive an update, just in case the unlikely does happen.
At the time of writing, there is no official word that Origament: A Paper Adventure is coming to PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo. Hopefully, that might change if this game proves successful on Steam. Only time will tell.
