A free download for a Fallout-inspired game just dropped on Steam, and fans of post-apocalyptic survival games are going to want to bump this one to the top of their wishlists.

Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone is an upcoming “post-apocalyptic action RPG adventure” from developer and publisher Farm 51 that’s set to release in roughly nine days on 6 March.

However, if you simply can’t wait until the game drops, Farm 51 just dropped a free download for Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone that actually sounds a lot more like a free trial than a demo.

“Don’t be afraid of the amount of GB to download,” stated Farm 51 in a post on Steam, “This build is actually not just a demo pretending to be a game, but a fully-fledged prologue to the whole story of Chernobylite 2 with the open world included.”

Take a look at the game in action below.

I’ve not actually had a chance to give this one a go myself yet, but (after browsing through a few playthroughs of the game) I feel pretty confident in saying that you’ll get a solid amount of playtime out of the prologue.

The thing that really caught my eye is the survival elements of the game, as your vitals and body parts are affected in individual and unique ways.

For instance, if you get set on fire, that will directly cause damage to your skin. Whereas if you take radiation damage, you'll have to purge your bloodstream using specific medication.

But if you’re not convinced, I very much recommend checking out The Singleplayer Squad's breakdown of the game if you don't want to commit to downloading a hefty game like this on a whim.

Just make sure you give it a go before 3 March, as it sounds like the demo will go offline after that point - just before the full game launches.
