The Last Of Us Part 3 teased right under our noses

Just announce Part III, already!

Fans are desperate for The Last of Us Part III to be announced, but could its release window have already been teased?

We’ve now had the first three episodes of The Last of Us HBO TV series for season two, and so far it’s been a fantastic start, impressing both new and returning fans alike.

The final seventh episode of The Last of Us season two will air on 26 May 2025, and then begins the gruelling wait for its third season. The first season of the TV series was adapted from The Last of Us Part I, and season two is adapted from Part II.

Creators of the TV series, Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin, have teased that the adaptation of The Last of Us Part II will likely take place over more than one season. At this time, we don’t know how many seasons it will be, but at least two is guaranteed.

Neil Druckmann has additionally previously teased a The Last of Us Part III video game, adding it depends on whether the story justifies its existence. But let’s be honest, there’s no way Sony or Naughty Dog won't release The Last of Us Part III at some point.

That being said, when will The Last of Us Part III be released? It might be safe to assume that it could arrive towards the end of the PlayStation 5 era or in the next generation.

A Reddit user believes the release window for The Last of Us Part III may have been teased right under our noses, and it will likely coincide with upcoming seasons of the HBO adaptation.

“Part III will be the final season, I’m calling it now,” declared Redditor lolwhatisthisdude. “Part I was adapted into one season. It takes about two years between seasons to develop, so that would be a release date of 2029/2030. That's just my theory. Also, I feel fans would be burnt out if it took three seasons to tell Part II’s story.”

So, in other words, lolwhatisthisdude believes it will take two seasons to adapt the story of The Last of Us Part II into a TV series, and season four would be inspired by The Last of Us Part III.

In my humble opinion, with the prospect of season four taking a couple of years to create, I’d guess that The Last of Us Part III could launch sometime during 2027, but that’s probably me being overly optimistic.

Hopefully, Naughty Dog will put us all out of our misery and officially announce The Last of Us Part III sooner rather than later.
