I’m a girl of many tastes; I enjoy cosy titles just as much as I enjoy enormous open-world RPGs.
Well, Cattle Country is a new offering destined to allow me the best of both worlds.
Think of this game as the perfect blend between Stardew Valley and Red Dead Redemption 2.

In Cattle Country, players will assume control of a ranch amidst the frontier era.
You’ll partake in the usual cosy fare - mining, fishing, crafting, and farming as you expand, improve, and maintain your rural empire.
So too though will you complete “deep-rooted Wild West quests delivering stories of romance, cattle drives, bandits, and robberies”.
You can see where the Red Dead Redemption 2 comparison comes in; oh, and there’s the fact that Roger Clark narrates the game’s trailer.

Watch that trailer for yourself below.
Close enough. Welcome back Arthur Morgan.
Cattle Country remains without a release date, but you can sample it already courtesy of a free demo.

While this free demo has been present on PC via Steam for some time, it’s now also available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch consoles as of this week.
If you have already tried the Steam demo, it’s worth sampling this new console variation as much has changed.
Devs have teased “enhanced gameplay, expanded customisation, and exciting new features—with a special appearance from cowboy voice acting legend Roger Clark (Arthur Morgan - Red Dead Redemption 2) as your trusted friend back home”.
I did wonder whether Clark was simply a part of the trailer or a character within the game itself; it sounds as if the latter may be true following the positive response to the trailer.

While Cattle Country hasn’t officially confirmed its full release date, Amazon is listing physical editions as launching on 30 June.
This could be a placeholder date, or the physical copies could be landing after digital editions, but it’s a solid indicator that the full game will launch soon.
For now, give that demo a whirl.
