PlayStation Plus 'concerning' update has fans dropping their subscriptions

Sony had better get its act together

I have said it once and I will say it again, being a PlayStation Plus subscriber is like playing a game of Russian Roulette each month.

Some months will have you thankful for that subscription, whilst others will have you seconds away from cancelling it and saving yourself the money.

Battlefield V is one of the PS Plus titles up for grabs this month. Check out its launch trailer below!

Unfortunately, it seems as though May is shaping up to be the latter with Sony only adding one title to the PlayStation Plus Premium tier.

As a result, members have threatened cancelling their subscription if Sony does not get its act together.

This discussion kicked off over on r/PlayStationPlus after one user posted the May additions to the PS Plus library.

This includes: Battlefield V, Sand Land, Soul Hackers 2, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, Humankind, Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, and Gloomhaven Mercenaries Edition.

These titles are available for all PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members.

In comparison, only Battle Engine Aquila is exclusively available for PS Plus Premium members.

So it is perhaps not surprising that some members are calling this the worst PS Plus line-up this year.

“I hope they are saving the games for Days of Play because I refuse to believe they would put one unknown game in Premium,” user Thorminator 100 said.

User SpyroManiac36 added, “Very concerning, I'll drop the Premium subscription if that's the new standard.”

With many members revealing that they plan to either cancel or change their subscription tier to its base level, it seems as though Sony will need to push the boat out for the rest of 2025 when it comes to free game offerings.

One user shared, “Used to sub to Plus + PS Now. Did Premium...then went Extra. Now I'm down to just Essential. Bought six months, which will end in November. If it's more of the same, I just won't resub, it's getting ridiculous now.”

Hopefully June will be a bit better…
