2025 could be the year that the impossible seemingly happens, as Microsoft shares its best-selling games with PlayStation.

Recent marketing from Microsoft claims that everything is an Xbox, and that may extend to rival hardware, as it is rumours from solid sources note that Halo and Gears of War will make their debut on PlayStation this year.

As always, take this with a pinch of salt as this isn’t an official confirmation, however the sources are well-connected industry insiders, so this could play out to be true.

According to NateDrake, Halo will be jumping onto PlayStation this year via the brilliant Halo: Master Chief Collection.

And, with bonus news, Jez Corden of Window’s Central, has noted that several other games will also make the move over to Sony’s console with Gears of War being one of them.

These rumours have been swirling for some time, but the latest update from these industry insiders make it seem more of a reality.

Microsoft has, in recent years, become more open to the idea of bringing their games to rival systems.

Along with Gears of War and Halo, also rumoured to be making PlayStation debuts are Age of Mythology and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.

This is an unprecedented move by Microsoft. While a few of the games they publish are available for PlayStation, this would be the first time their legacy franchises are playable on hardware once considered the opposition.

Of course, this is a huge win for gamers, especially those who have always aligned themselves with PlayStation, as they will be able to enjoy a range of cracking games.

Jez Corden notes, “Microsoft has a vast mountain of first-party content in development, with further unannounced titles for 2025 slated for the Xbox Showcase, which typically airs in June.”

All eyes will be on that showcase for possible announcements.
