Xbox may have dropped a fortune to acquire Actvision, but the upcoming beta for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare III will still be coming to PlayStation consoles first.

Great news if you’re a PlayStation fan, but not so great news if you’re on Xbox. The official announcement for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare III dropped last week, prompting mixed reactions from fans.

If you missed it, check out the teaser below.

Many were excited to have a new Call Of Duty on the way, whereas others were sceptical about whether it’ll be worth the price of a full game, especially since a lot of its content was originally planned to be DLC for Modern Warfare II (2022).

In other news, there’s been increasing debate as to how long the Call Of Duty series will remain on multiple platforms. Xbox dropped a whopping $68.7 billion to acquire Activision Blizzard, and while the deal is still facing some pushback from certain countries, it’ll no doubt go through one way or another.

Xbox could potentially make Call Of Duty an Xbox exclusive if they wanted to, even though it’s repeatedly said it has no plans to do so. Some believe that could be a decision that’ll come back to bite them in the future, especially since following recent leaks that claim the beta for Modern Warfare III will be available on PlayStation before it reaches Xbox.

The news was shared by CharlieINTEL on Twitter, and showed an ad for the game on the Arabic Sony YouTube channel. Translated, the ad reads: "Play the demo first on PlayStation, … Available on PlayStation at least five days before any other platform."

The ad also went on to say the beta would only be accessible to those who’d preordered the game. No date for the beta was given, but it’ll likely be sometime in the next few weeks or months.

Not ideal for Xbox, especially after spending so much money on the game’s publisher, but once the deal gets finalised, they’ll likely be a few exclusive features or bonuses for players on Xbox platforms.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare III releases on 10 November later this year for Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms.
