We have every reason to still be excited about current-gen consoles with many great video games on the horizon. Some gamers are even hoping that Sony will slow down the arrival of the PlayStation 6.

The PlayStation 5 has already blessed us with the likes of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Demon’s Souls remake, Final Fantasy XVI, and much more. However, when the PS6 arrives, we can expect plenty more next-gen goodness but it seems not everyone wants that, at least right now.

For example, we can hopefully expect Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, as well as follow-ups to Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarök and The Last of Us Part II. If we are lucky, we may even get a new Uncharted game.

That being said, the biggest question remains, when can we expect all this next-gen goodness with the arrival of the PlayStation 6? Yet, as exciting as the next-gen console will be, some gamers want Sony to slow down so that we can all appreciate what we have now for a little bit longer.

“How long do you think it will be before Sony’s PlayStation 6 console is announced?” asked Redditor mikescarnthethreat.

“They [Sony] need to slow it down and just make more quality games,” replied Minute-Sheepherder51. “Nintendo has been killing it with its Switch. I see no excuse or reason why Sony and Xbox can't follow its example.”

“Amen! Quality over quantity,” said Greenshlong with Kryptonian1991 adding, “Hopefully, it’s far away. I JUST got a PS5 for Christmas!”

Sony has not given us any official indication as to when the PlayStation 6 will be released but it might be safe to assume that it could be a few more years away. So that should give us plenty more time to clear out our ever-growing piles of shame.

The next big PlayStation 5 exclusive is Astro Bot releasing on 6 September 2024.
