The PlayStation 6 may be some years away but fans believe that a big release will be arriving on it and has been staring us in the face all this time.

Last November saw us receive the PlayStation 5 Pro, the mid-generation console which offered an even more powerful version of the PlayStation 5.

However, it is easy to forget that the PS5 itself is not even five-years old yet but thanks to a series of issues, it has perhaps been one of Sony’s least successful launches.

From low stock shortages, a plethora of scalpers and a series of failed live-service titles, the PlayStation 5 has not had the easiest of runs so it is no wonder that fans have already turned their attention to Sony’s next console.

Although it has not yet been announced, and we can only assume it will be called the PlayStation 6, some fans think they already have a pretty good idea about a major sequel which could launch alongside it.

The Last of Us Part III.

Once again, The Last of Us Part III has not been confirmed or announced but with Naughty Dog’s next project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, arriving on PlayStation 5, it is believed that TLOU III will be kept for the PS6.

Courtesy of a leak which was shared over on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, fans believe a third instalment in The Last of Us series is secretly in the works.

“We’ve been hearing rumblings of a third entry being in the works in November and the fact that the budget depends on the success of the show, but these rumors remained unsubstantiated.

Druckmann has also previously stated that a story line was written. Now, our source at Sony (who previously broke the first confirmed leak of the PS5 Slim to us) has doubled down and revealed to us that it is indeed in the works.

At least, according to Sony. Internally, Sony has the title slated as “in progress” with Naughty Dog as the developer with the game is categorised as a Playstation 5 release with “Playstation 6 in mind”.”

Of course, this should be taken with a pinch of salt but releasing The Last of Us Part III on the PS6 would definitely increase sales.

However, only time can tell.
