HBO's The Last Of Us missed out on a major video game cameo thanks to Spider-Man

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 star Nadji Jeter almost appeared in HBO's The Last of Us.

Filming is well underway on season two of HBO’s The Last of Us, with the latest season set to premiere on our screens next year, in 2025.

The Last of Us was hailed by many as breaking the video game adaptation curse, with reviews even declaring it to be the greatest video game adaptation of all-time.

It certainly now looks as if Amazon’s Fallout is giving it a run for its money, but what an age we live in to have two video game adaptation titans dominating the TV world. Oh how things have changed.

Season two of The Last of Us will, of course, adapt The Last of Us Part II with Kaitlyn Dever joining the cast as Abby.

Isabela Merced will be portraying Dina, Young Mazino will star as Jesse, Tati Gabrielle is playing Nora, Ariela Barer is Mel, Danny Ramirez will play Manny, while Spencer Lord will portray Owen.

Catherine O’Hara has also been cast in an undisclosed role. For now, key characters Yara and Lev remain uncast.

Take a look at season one in action below.

One of the great joys about the first season was seeing so many of the video game’s actors return to play new characters.

Ashley Johnson (Ellie) brought Ellie’s mum Anna to life, Troy Baker (Joel) played David’s sidekick James, while Jeffrey Pierce (Tommy) portrayed Kansas City revolutionary Perry.

At last night’s BAFTA Games Awards, I had the chance to catch up with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 star Nadji Jeter.

Nadji may now be best known for voicing Miles Morales, but once upon a time, he starred as Sam in Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us.

I was curious to ask Nadji whether, like his castmates, he was interested in appearing in the show in a new role.

It just so happens that Nadji exclusively revealed that HBO had already posed the question.

“I would love [a cameo],” Nadji said. “It was so funny. They actually called when they were filming in Canada. We were still taking over New York [filming Spider-Man].”

“I didn’t know that,” co-star Yuri Lowenthal (Peter Parker) said.

“Yeah, they called and they were like, ‘Hey, how is your schedule looking?’ and I was like um, I gotta handle some things over here.”

So there you have it. You may have seen yet another familiar face if Miles hadn’t been busy saving the streets of New York.
