Yet another GTA VI release date theory is making the rounds.

To be fair, I love hearing about GTA VI speculation and release date theories; let's be honest, gossiping about the games we are hyped for is so exciting. Plus, given the fact that Rockstar Games is yet to announce the real release date for GTA VI, we don't have much else to talk about, at least officially.

No doubt, when the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series finally arrives, we won't stop talking about it; in fact, we will likely crank up the conversations tenfold like Trevor Phillips juiced up on Sprunk and eCola.

So with that in mind, a Grand Theft Auto fan believes that the launch of GTA VI could in some way be associated with GTA V leaving PlayStation Plus next month.

“I have a theory,” said Redditor randysSnagger, sharing a screenshot with the date of 20 May 2025, the day that GTA V leaves PS Plus (again).

I assume they think this is related to GTA VI in some way, although how exactly I cannot say. Perhaps the arrival of some imminent news?

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think any of us believes that GTA VI is releasing on 20 May but this is perhaps renewed hope that the highly anticipated Rockstar Games title is still set to be released this year or if we are to be very optimistic, the second trailer and release date could drop during that week.

The first GTA VI trailer dropped on 3 December 2023, which fell on a Monday in the UK. 20 May 2025 falls on a Tuesday, so maybe there’s something in that, if we’re clutching at straws.

“Ahh, someone expected 20/5, now we need to delay it again,” replied Wide-Discussion3094, joking that every time Rockstar Games sees a date mentioned by a fan, it delays the release of the second trailer.

“The game comes and goes from PS+ and Game Pass all the time. I wouldn't read too much into it,” said Expert-Examination86.

“Throw that theory out the window,” demanded Aegononearth.

Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to be released at the end of this year on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
