Rockstar Games’ latest trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI is hugely impressive, on that we can all agree.
But you not have realised just how impressive it truly is.
You see, many of us assumed it to be a purely cinematic trailer - using in-engine footage, yes, more so than pre-rendered cinematics, but a cinematic trailer nonetheless.

No one saw this trailer and realised that we’d received anything in the way of gameplay, but we have.
Yes, Rockstar Games’ trailer is so impressive that the studio has actually had to confirm what it is we’ve witnessed.
The trailer “was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes,” read a tweet from the studio.
Yes, 50% of the trailer is made up of gameplay; I honestly never would have guessed.

In fact, I’ve since rewatched the trailer umpteen times and outside of a few more obvious moments, I’m finding it hard to see where cutscenes end and gameplay begins.
You can watch that trailer for yourself below.
The impressive feats don’t end there, as this gameplay footage was captured in-game on a base PlayStation 5 console - not even the Pro.

As such, many have since deduced that PlayStation is very likely going to be the place to be to get the most out of your GTA VI experience.
Reddit user sasukeamongus identified one possible gameplay screenshot within the trailer, prompting a positive discussion about the PlayStation 5’s graphics.
“I genuinely believe this is a gameplay screenshot taken from a third person perspective with the hud turned off,” they wrote.
“If Rockstar thinks I'm dumb enough to buy a PS5 to play this game, they're absolutely right,” replied xEpic.

“Same. Until now, I always said, ‘Nah, I'll wait until the PC version drops.’ But nope. I will buy a PS5 and then sell it again as soon as the PC version drops lol,” added Intrepid_Fig_3071.
“I already bought mine back in November specifically for GTA VI lmao,” commented LewisB_93.
It’s likely going to be a while until we see more of GTA VI given the delay but my goodness, Rockstar has given us plenty to analyse and mull over.
