If you wanted to claim a free PlayStation 5 console, you could be in the right place, but there is one huge catch.

Getting goodies for free is always nice, especially when it includes full video games, DLC or even fancy accessories. However, what about getting the new slim PlayStation 5 console for free?

It’s not uncommon to get a free video game or two when you purchase a brand new console whether it’s the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S or the Nintendo Switch. We may even get free DLC with purchases of certain games.

To get a free video game with a console, you’re looking to at least drop a few hundred quid when picking up the system of your choice. That being said, if you were expecting to get a free PlayStation 5 with a purchase, it makes sense that you’re going to have to drop a lot more cash, right?

As spotted by the Twitter user MerryKish, American-based jewellery store Helzberg is giving away a “free” PlayStation 5 slim console with purchases of at least $1,799 (that’s about £1,400 for those of us in the UK).

I suppose if you have money to burn (and you probably do if you have that kind of money to spend on jewellery), then a free PlayStation 5 would make a fantastic stocking filler for Christmas.

“I feel like this is targeting men to come in and purchase an engagement ring and tbh, I think it's kinda genius,” said PosiTiffTV, who is probably hitting the proverbial nail on the head.

“Girl math,” joked pancakepow to which MerryKish replied, “Babe, I got you a $1,800 watch!”

So, what are you waiting for? Go and spend $1,800 to get a free PS5, sorry, I mean to get your partner some lovely jewellery.

Earlier this month, Sony released its PlayStation 5 Pro with an RRP of £699.99 without a disc drive.
