Popular Xbox exclusive could be coming to PlayStation

A new report suggests that PlayStation could be receiving another big Xbox exclusive in the future.

In the last year, Xbox has spiced up its strategy concerning platform exclusives. In 2024, Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves each came to non-Xbox platforms like PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

Similarly, it’s also been announced that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be arriving on PS5 next year after a short exclusivity window on Xbox and PC.

But now, another big Xbox exclusive could be breaking free of exclusivity and making its way to PlayStation consoles in the future.

Take a look at what's on offer on Xbox Game Pass.

The game is Forza Horizon 5, which was originally released for Xbox and PC in 2021. As is the norm for the Forza series, it was a hit with both players and critics, becoming one of the most beloved games on Xbox Game Pass.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), known leaker eXtas1stv claims that “Forza Horizon 5 has already been ported to PS5, but its release was delayed (not cancelled) this past summer.”

“However, they consider it a game that can do quite well, and it will arrive, I don't know when, but it will arrive.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumours about Forza Horizon 5 coming to PlayStation. Earlier this year, other industry insiders were also claiming the game was going multi-platform. So it's not like this has come out of nowhere.

There’s no doubt about it that Forza Horizon 5 was a huge hit for Xbox. Before its release, the game had amassed 1.2 million players just from buying the Premium Edition early access. And within 24 hours of launch, 4.5 million people had played the game. That's a whopping number!

It was nominated for several awards that year, winning three at The Game Awards and one at the Annual DICE Awards. It also won the BAFTA for Best British Game in 2022.

And since Microsoft has eased up on keeping its big exclusives on Xbox, there’s certainly a good chance Forza is up for consideration on other platforms.
