Soulsborne fans are always looking for something to test their gaming skills and this PlayStation Plus inclusion could be the perfect title to put them through their paces.

It should be stated that the game recommended in this article is not a recent release. However, if you’ve never played the game that can be described as a treat for Elden Ring and Ghost of Tsushima fans, then it might be new to you, kind of. The game in question is Nioh, developed by Team Ninja, and it’s included at no additional cost for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers right now.

Check out the Nioh trailer below!

“It's the 16th century. A Western seafarer finds himself in Japan and is met by war and demons on his quest of search and find. Will his path do the unfinished Kurosawa script justice?” reads the synopsis of Nioh. Originally, Nioh was released in 2017 for PlayStation 4 but in 2021 it was treated to a glorious PlayStation 5 upgrade. So if you play on Sony’s latest console, you can now enjoy an even better version of this Team Ninja classic.

What’s more, Nioh also received a critically acclaimed sequel in 2020. Sadly, however, at the time of writing, Nioh 2 isn't included in PS Plus Extra or Premium, but it was previously included in the Essential tier, so you may already have it included in your digital library. If Nioh and its sequel aren't enough for Team Ninja goodness for you, then you can also check out Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, as well as the upcoming Rise of the Ronin, the latter of which is one for fans of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series.

In recent years, for better or worse, there have been many developers that have attempted to capture that FromSofware magic, but none have arguably replicated that essence as well as Team Ninja, in my opinion.

Nioh and Nioh 2 are available now on PC, PS5 and PS4. As for the upcoming Rise of the Ronin, it will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 on 22 March 2024.
