The Elder Scrolls: Easthaven is a fan-made remake of a completely different game, in Skyrim…

The mod was created by Arx Vallium, who has recreated the starting area of Icewind Dale, an RPG developed by Black Isle Studios that’s completely separate to Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls series, yet thematically it fits quite well.

The next entry in the Elder Scrolls series will be The Elder Scrolls VI, check out the teaser trailer below

For those who haven’t played Icewind Dale, it’s a bit like DnD, although a more recent example would be Baldur’s Gate 3. Players explore the world, engage in turn-based battles, and loot the land of the riches and rewards.

Obviously games like Skyrim came along and showed the world how RPGs are done, so to play part of Icewind Dale from a fresh perspective with updated controls feels phenomenal.

As previously stated though, the full game hasn’t been recreated, that’s likely beyond the capabilities of most modding teams, especially one person like Arx Vallium, but the starting area is sizable enough to grant you a few hours of exploration.

While wandering through the fishing village of Easthaven, players will stumble upon a quest containing a mystery about the Spine of the World Mountains. If you haven’t played Icewind Dale this will likely mean nothing to you, but I promise it’s worth checking out as it’s a great quest.

Arx Vallium recommends starting a new game before tackling the new area, likely because it won’t be balanced for players with hundreds of hours into their playthroughs. Accessing the modded area is quick and simple too. All you need to do is travel to Winterhold, head north and look for the “Portal to Faerûn,” which will transport you to Easthaven.

The mod can be downloaded and installed for free via NexusMods.
