We live for remakes here at GAMINGbible, especially when they’re done right – give us stunning remakes and we’ll be happy gamers indeed. So imagine how ecstatic we are with The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall remake you can get for free… right now.

‘Daggerfall Unity’ lovingly brings back to life an Elder Scrolls title that still rakes in the “very positive” reviews all these years later. Although it’s a classic by today’s standards, gamers of Steam herald the game as a life-changing experience that “shaped” their future.

For more modern gamers, don't forget to watch The Elder Scrolls Online cinematic trailer!

With this remake, you can get all those amazing moments but with a massive upgrade on its appearance, stability, and performance. For fans of old-school gaming, this is big news: not only do you get all the enjoyment of a retro classic, but you can play it with greater ease.

“Daggerfall Unity 1.0 has been released just in time for 2024. Highly recommend you use it! There are some amazing mods with DFU, along with a ton of control changes,” said one gamer who’s experienced the wonders of the remake already.

Nonetheless, while the game looks markedly better than its original form, it doesn’t look anything like Skyrim, so don’t go downloading this mod expecting polished, contemporary graphics.

If you intend to dive into the remastered world of Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall, you’ll need a copy of the original game to do so. Fortunately for fans, you’ll either have this already or be able to head over to Steam (or another platform) to play the game for free, which should allow you to continue without a hitch. Though, don’t hold us to that.

You can download the remake here, with all the specifications and details of the mod explained by the dedicated modder who created it. Honestly, fans of the game are sure to love this one, so even if you’re sceptical, we suggest you give it a try because it’s unlikely you’ll be disappointed. And if you aren’t impressed, there’s always the original version to fall back on.
