They say, “good things come to those who await” and that certainly seems to be the case when it comes to Red Dead Redemption on PC.

Red Dead Redemption was originally released by Rockstar Games, the famed Grand Theft Auto developer in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Last year, it then benefited from a port on PlayStation 4 (playable on PS5) and Nintendo Switch.

Finally, after waiting 14 years, Red Dead Redemption is out now on PC bundled with its critically acclaimed expansion, Undead Nightmare. Until now, PC players have had to rely on emulation to play this Rockstar Games classic.

“Experience the story of former outlaw John Marston as he tracks down the last remaining members of the notorious Van der Linde Gang in the PC debut of the critically acclaimed predecessor to Red Dead Redemption 2,” reads the description of the long-awaited port.

This PC port comes with additional bells and whistles not found with its console counterparts such as a native 4K resolution with a 144hz refresh rate. It also has upto Super Ultrawide support, NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling as well as NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation.

Fans are over the moon with this port such as Redditor PrinceOfPersiaHD who said: “It looks so much nicer, this PC release is phenomenal.”

“Props to Double Eleven [the studio that handled the PC port]. It would be cool if they took the job of porting GTA VI to PC,” replied a hopeful X6qPlayer.

“Awesome port, I only just now started taking a break since it came out. I know the price is a major turnoff for a lot of people but rest assured that the PC port is very well done,” Vult exclaimed.

That being said, despite the positive words for Red Dead Redemption on PC, it is understandable for those put off by its launch RRP of £39.99/$49.99. After all, it is a 14 year old game at the time of writing.

Red Dead Redemption is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
