With Grand Theft Auto VI quite a way away, players are turning to its predecessor to help pass the time. Luckily for them, Grand Theft Auto 5.5 is a huge free download which brings a new lease of life to the 2013 hit.

Last year, saw the latest entry in the much-loved Grand Theft Auto series hit its 10th anniversary as well as being the year that the much-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI received its first official trailer. With the next entry set to launch some time in 2025, it is still some time before we can get our hands on it. However, one modder has a sure fire way of passing the time.

Check out the first official Grand Theft Auto VI trailer below!

Over on Nexus Mods, GTA V PC players can get their hands on ‘Grand Theft Auto 5.5’, a mod which adds “better graphics, better weather, better driving, more nice cars to steal, more interesting things that can happen if you do, better gangs, better peds, better shootouts, more interesting but easier police, topped off with some more realism and immersion”.

As you can tell, this mod will add heaps of new features and improvements to the base game. Not only will graphics be improved to include more reflections, increase rendering distance, improvements to the weather system and more but it will also add a lot of tweaks to vehicles.

Vehicles will handle much better and changes to traffic means faster AI drivers, variation in taxis to match real-life Los Angeles and an overall increase of traffic to make rush hour seem more hectic. The modder has also added “complex, hand-crafted traffic systems across the world, heavily incorporating day & night cycles with busy rush hour traffic, quiet residential roads at night with lots of parked cars”.

Police and gang activity has also had an overhaul with the 5.5 mod with gangs taking over parts of the city at night and more police actively patrolling the streets. Evading police will be a lot trickier and they are more likely to carry a variety of weapons. On the other hand, gunfights will often break out amongst gang members and said members will now have a complex relationship system.
