GTA 6 can wait, GTA 4's Liberty City is back and better than ever

Well, this is unexpected

Have you said it out loud yet? Grand Theft Auto VI is launching this year, although it does remain some way away.

Even still, the final countdown is on so hopefully, it won’t be too long before that elusive second trailer emerges.

In the meantime, I have a distraction that’s worthy of your attention.

If you haven’t heard of the Liberty City Preservation Project, you’re going to want to pay close attention to what I have to say next.

A fantastic new mod has emerged that essentially allows users to explore the entirety of Liberty City within GTA V.

Of course, the only downside to such a project is that as a mod, the Liberty City Preservation Project is only available to those running GTA V on PC and with a bit of kit capable of handling such an extension.

It’s a really incredible piece of work as the mod doesn’t simply recreate the topography of Liberty City’s map.

It features the vast majority of the original game’s NPCs, vehicles, subway system, and soundtrack - including the game’s radio stations.

There’s also a HD texture pack available, if you really want to make this mod glisten in a way which you’ve never seen Liberty City do before.

Rockstar, please, drop that second trailer soon.

I should stress that the mod replaces Los Santos, so you won’t be able to explore that locale and Liberty City at once but that’s perhaps to be expected.

You can take a look at the mod for yourself thanks to the glossy trailer below.

If you want to get involved, there is a dedicated Discord server for the project, while YouTuber Games & Graphics has the full breakdown on how to install the mod.

Already, the community is rallying behind the project with support.

“The Liberty City Preservation Project is the best map expansion mod we’ve ever gotten,” wrote Reddit user XGamingPersonX.

“I agree, it’s a work of art,” added Mother-Unit4052.

Check it out for yourself right now.
