Cyberpunk 2077 gets hefty expansion for popular mode

Say cheese!

With December welcoming the arrival of Update 2.2 to Cyberpunk 2077, the surprise patch has inspired its creators and this hefty expansion is a must-have for the game’s most popular mode.

Despite CD Projekt RED claiming that it had officially wrapped up development on Cyberpunk 2077 in order to turn its attention to its sequel and The Witcher IV, the studio surprised fans with a brand-new update back in December 2024.

Check out the trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty below!

Titled Update 2.2, the new patch adds hundreds of new cosmetics, more Johnny Silverhand and major upgrades to the game’s Photo Mode.

With the ability to adjust lighting and depth of field now more nuanced than ever before and the addition of brand-new aspect ratios and filters, it was no wonder that millions of fans booted up Cyberpunk 2077 once again to check out the improvements.

Not only were there technical improvements, but the ability to add multiple characters to your in-game shots was also introduced.

Thanks to Update 2.2, players could spawn up to three NPCs in their photos from a list of 20 characters to choose from.

In addition to all of that, courtesy of a free-to-download mod by XBaebsae on NexusMods, Photo Mode has now received even more improvements.

Photomode NPCs Extended “adds additional appearance to existing Photo Mode NPCs and expands the available list by over 200 characters”.

As you can see from that figure alone, this is quite the improvement.

As well as that, this mod also has custom icons for NPCs, missing poses returned to both male and female V, shadow fixes for ray tracing and even the addition of Phantom Liberty NPCs.

You are still only able to pose alongside three NPCs but this mod adds a whole lot more familiar faces than the official Update 2.2 did so it is definitely worth grabbing if your favourite characters were left out.
