Bloodborne is one of the greatest games of all time, but your only real way of playing the game without any faff is to get it on PS4 or PS5.

For fans of FromSoftware that play on PC, Xbox, or Nintendo platforms, your choices have been a little more limited.

Xbox and Nintendo just outright can’t play Bloodborne, but PC players have had the option of emulating it for quite some time now.

Available via the ShadPS4 emulator for PC, you need to already own a disc copy of Bloodborne to be able to dump the contents onto your PC and play it via the emulator, but it’s still cool nonetheless.

ShadPS4 has come a long way since its early days emulating Bloodborne at a rather low framerate and level of graphical detail, but nowadays, the game runs pretty much like a dream.

And annoyingly, it’s the only way for you to play Bloodborne at framerates higher than 30fps. I always hated that a game so reliant on timing and learning patterns of enemy attacks was restricted to this framerate, but ShadPS4’s Bloodborne emulation really demonstrates its combat excellence.

Bloodborne On ShadPS4 Is Essentially Your Own Way To Remaster The Game

The emulator also supports mods and other enhancements, allowing you to effectively remaster the game with new features, improved textures, lighting, and all sorts of other enhancements. It truly is the definitive way to play Bloodborne.

“I never would've known how great the level design of bloodborne is if bloodborne pc wasnt possible,” writes one fan on a Reddit page dedicated to playing Bloodborne on PC.

“I've been waiting to play Bloodborne for about 5 years now, but couldn't, because I didn't have a PS,” reads a comment from another player. “Even when I downloaded the game on the emulator, I didn't have any high hopes. I would have been just happy if I could play for like 20 mins. But it played so well for emulation that I couldn't put it down. I finished the game and dlc. This game is incredible, and I'm grateful to the developers, and to this community.”

Another fan writes: “If I were a dev on this game, I'd probably be so f***ing glad that it was in the hands of the people now.”

As ShadPS4 gets more popular among Bloodborne fans, there’s hope that it’ll convince Sony to do a new-gen remaster for PS5 and PC. The game truly is one of the greatest of all time, and it’s a shame that Sony is intent on keeping it stuck on a last generation PlayStation platform.
