Kicking off in two days, on 6 December, players will have the chance to compete for 2,500 Gold Points courtesy of Nintendo.

Gold Points translate to store credit on the Nintendo eShop, so this is a bumper prize not to be missed.

This chance to win is only available on the Nintendo Switch.

I’d say it’s simple to snag these points, but you’re going to need some skills. Namely, in Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

To be in with a chance of fighting to the top and snagging this prize, you’ll be competing in the Super Smash Bros Ultimate European Online Challenge: Winter Clash.

The tournament kicks off at 5pm GMT on 6 December and runs through to 7pm GMT.

Players will take part in the 1v1 bouts of the Online Tourney mode, whittling each other down in the hopes of winning big.

According to the formal rules of the contest, “Matches will consist of two-stock bouts lasting five minutes each, with items and Final Smash meters turned off. Stages will be limited to Omega and Battlefield versions only, with stage hazards also turned off."

In order to compete, you simply need to have a Nintendo account and show up with your favourite character.

Of course, the best of the best will rock up in the hopes of washing the competition, but it’s up to you to fight back and win.

The winner will be the player with the highest Tourney score at the end of the competition - points are awarded for wins, so the more matches you win, the better your chances are.

In the UK, 2,500 Gold Points equates to around £25 which will snag you a decent discount on a game, or even swing a few new indies into your backlog.

You’ve got a couple of days to practice and get your skills up to par before it all kicks off.
