Nintendo Switch users can get a free subscription to Nintendo Switch Online with a relevant purchase, granting them access to a huge library of classic games at no additional cost.

At the time of writing I’d say Nintendo Switch Online is a pretty good deal, that being said the Expansion Pack is still a bit of a nuisance but if you love retro games like I do it’s worth the yearly subscription cost.

Take a look at the upcoming Switch game Mario & Luigi: Brothership below

If you’re yet to subscribe to Nintendo’s membership program though, or if you used to subscribe but let it expire, you might be interested to hear there’s a freebie going round depending on which games you’re currently buying.

Nintendo announced this deal on its X account, saying that a 14-day membership to Nintendo Switch Online will be given out for free to anyone who buys one of a select few games.

The titles include Super Mario Bros Wonder, Nintendo Switch Sports, Nintendo World Championship: NES Edition and Mario Kart 8: Deluxe.

Mario Kart 8: Deluxe is unfortunately not the version that comes with the DLC characters and tracks.

If you’re wondering why these four titles have been chosen for the offer it’s obviously because they’re all multiplayer games you can play with friends or randoms. Out of all the games on the list I’d say Mario Kart is the best game to play with another person, though they’re all having a good time with the right people.

Purchase any of them and you’ll get your 14-day Nintendo Switch Online trial, allowing you to try out the multiplayer for each game and some of the classic games your membership grants you, with the SNES titles being the real highlight as they’ve aged beautifully.

According to Nintendo’s website this offer will last until January 2025, so give it a go if any of these games have been on your wishlist for a while.
